notecards

These are some cards I am doing for a door prize for our church's ladies retreat. I didn't have time to sit down and make them in the hybrid fashion, so I used my digiscrapping know-how. It made for a quick set of cards.

All the cards use the WInter Ponies kit from http://www.shabbymissjenndesigns.com/. All the vintage photos are family photos.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

18 years ago today after lunch at Taco Bell, my sweet hubby proposed to me at Randol Mill Park in Arlington...in the rain. It was so sweet. There is a little creek that winds thru the park and it has several bridges and he asked me to get out of the car. I was like "hey Sherlock, it's raining." He insisted. So, I got out. And we started walking.....in the rain. When we got on the bridge, he stopped and got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Awww, how sweet is that??

This page is his Valentines gift. This picture was taken just within a few days of us meeting. We were two college students from Texas in New Mexico at the same time. God had a plan...

quickie!!

I did this page using the same technique I used on Sidney's last page. I love this look. It's just very simple and understated.

We were on vacation at the La Cantera resort in San Antonio, Texas and Brady Boy was taking a rest and I got this picture of him. I absolutely love this picture. Funny thing is, I got the exact same pic of Sidney. Not Kolby though. He doesn't sit still long enough!!

Have a great weekend.

playing

Here's a page I did spontaneously. I received a newsletter and it had a page done similar to this. They used Photoshop, but I do not have PS, so I tried to recreate it with Publisher. All in all, I am pretty happy with it. Very simple.

Here are a couple more pages that I have completed. This first one is Brady and Kolby. THey were having so much fun that day playing. Its great when they WANT to play together, but heaven forbid I make them!! This page uses the Boystown from Scrapadelic. Ronna Penner is the designer. Cool kit.

The second page is from our vacation. Michael's little brother came and spent the day with us at Moody Gardens. He was living in Houston at the time. We tried to get him to spend a second day, and for some reason, he said NO!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE...NO!!! I'm sure it wasn't the kids. Just sure of it!! I used the Dinner Party kit from Shabby Princess. And the really rockin part is.....FREE!!

This second page is a kit from http://www.shabbyprincess.com/ Love their stuff too.
Enjoy the pages and have a great weekend!!

Siddy Girl

I just did this quick page. I absolutely love the fact that Kolby and Sidney got my eyes. No one ever says any of my kids look like me, but NO ONE can deny the fact that the little ones got my brown eyes. I remember growing up thinking that blue eyes were best. Everyone always comments on how pretty someones blue eyes are. And, don't get me wrong, I know lots of pretty blue eyes. But look at this page and tell me how blue can be better than brown? GORGEOUS!!

It's great

It's great to have so many great family photo's that really lend themselves so well to some of the sentiments I have rolling around in my head.

These two cards I made today just kinda had me laughing to myself the whole time.
The first card is a set of twins that are in my family somewhere down the line. Not sure where. And as the mother of twins, I guess I have them to thank for it. I have been asked many times which one is dominant and if there really is an evil one. While some might think that one of mine is more evil than the other, I think he can be by far the sweetest one behind the scenes. He's the one who holds my hand while we watch tv, and he is the one who always says "thanks mom" or "yes ma'am." He is the one who can't go to sleep without the right number of kisses and he always gives me a "thumbs up" when he is finished eating dinner. So, no. Neither of mine are evil.
Supplies used: SU Basic Brown for the base. THe harlequin paper is from My Minds Eye. Also it has Basic Grey Phoebe behind the photo and the sentiment is mounted on My Minds Eye. Brown grosgrain ribbon from Michaels. The washer is from Home Depot. HA!

The second card is actually a picture of my great-great-great-great grand parents. How cool is that? And, um, how happy does he look? And the saying is so true. WHy would anyone shoot a man washing dishes? Uh, hello?? Wait 'til he's done. OK, ok, ok. Just kidding. Don't shoot at all. That can be frowned up on in some cultures!!

Supplies used: SU Bashful Blue for the base. All the paper is Amy Butler.

Learning new tricks

I am not a computer wizard, to say the least. Most people that are digiscrappers use some version of Photoshop. I use Publisher. Its what I have and what I know how to use...sorta. I see a Photoshop class in my future if the "powers that be" approve it, but for now, Publisher will have to do. So, when I wanted to do Kolby's page as a mirror image of Sidney's Christmas page, it took some playing, but I got it done. I don't think it's an exact mirror image, but I did learn a thing or two I didn't know before about Publisher.

The string of stars that cascades down the ribbon, on Sidney's page, I put one on of each color then I just copied and pasted each one. But on Kolby's, what I did, is when I started, I went to Sidney's page and under Edit, I chose Select All. Then I went to Kolby's page and under Edit, I hit Paste. Then, I just highlighted each element and flipped it over horizontally. And with the stars, I was able to highlight the whole strand and flip the whole strand rather than each star individually.

So, yes, I am sure many of you reading this are thinking, Ooh, you really are not a genius are ya?? But, hey, I got it done!!

I've created a monster....

OK, just in myself. I can not stop making pages!! About this whole digiscraping thing, I just can not figure out why in the world someone wants to drag out all the paper, ink, adhesive, photos, buttons, ribbon, glitter, brads, eyelets and whatever else you drag out. Now don't get me wrong. This is EXACTLY what I do when I do my vintage cards. But I gotta tell ya, being able to do a digiscrap page and not have a mess to clean up afterwards, ROCKS!!

When I very first started with stamping, I was just stampin along in my dining room. I could hear Kolby and Sidney therefore I thought that everything must be A-OK. OK, note to self, just because you can hear them doesn't mean they are they are not setting the house on fire. No, they really didn't. But they did get the Hershey's syrup out of the fridge and proceeded to squeese it on each other. In the middle of my kitchen. They looked like 2 foot ice cream sundaes. It was not, I repeat NOT one of my proudest moments. With that story being told, had I been digiscraping, I wouldn't have had to clean up all my stampin stuff AND the Hershey's syrup.

More twin stories late. These two pages I did today. The first is a Christmas page I did of Sidney. Everything I used is from http://www.shabbymissjenndesigns.com/. I have nearly the same identical pic of Kolby. So, that will follow soon. The beach page is all of us at the beach in Galveston. That page was done with a FREE kit from Amy Bleser at http://www.digitalfreebies.com/

I am off to bed. I have pumpkin-fied.

I want to hear from you. I want to know your thoughts on my cards. Hate em? Love em? Tolerate 'em? Seen better cards at Dollar General? Did you 8 year old make a better Christmas card this year than I did? Fess up. What is it?

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Logan

Tuesday, January 22, is the birthday of our sweet friend, Baby Logan. Baby Logan was born with just half a heart. She lived mightily for 8 weeks. She had her heavenly birthday on March 22, 2004.

With Logan's half heart, she taught us to love with our whole heart.

I made this little page for her. I have it mounted on a chipboard coaster and will have it attached to her flowers when we go to the cemetary tomorrow. We will go and sing Happy Birthday, my kids and I. They find this perfectly normal. Sometimes you just change what normal is. And for us, this is normal. Her mommy means the world to me and I love her dearly.

So, Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Logan!! We love you much.

Oh alright already!!

OK, so I couldn't hit the bed without making "just one more."

The whole kit came from http://www.shabbymissjenndesigns.com/

GOOD NIGHT and don't ask for anymore tonight!!

Last one today.....I PROMISE!!

We were at Moody Gardens in Galveston and Sidney literally went from mad to happy in 60 seconds flat. It was so funny. Plus, I just happened to catch it with my camera!! So, I had to do her a page since I did both boys one!! Gotta be fair.

This is the Modish Girl kit from www.shabbyprincess.com

No more tonight. I promise!!

Two more!!

The first one is for my cousin, Chad. He just earned his Eagle Scout badge and we are so proud of him. The vintage picture on his is his grandfather when he was a scout.

The second is my sweet Kolby at Schlitterbahn. I was in the kiddie pool for the ENTIRE day because he is a tad scared of the water. It was nice in a way though, because he and I had the whole day together....just he and I.

I'm on a roll here....

Can you believe I actually managed 2 pages today and its only 11:16. I've cleaned my bathrooms and even vacuumed. So I can't possibly imagine that I will ever do the "traditional" scrappin again!! My dining room table is not covered in anything except syrup and PB&J!!

OK, the paper is from http://www.peppermintcreative.com/ and so is the rope.

The burlap tag that I did my journaling on is from Christina Renee Designs.

The alpha tags are from http://www.pickleberrypop.com/

The silver 2007 is from http://www.theshabbyprincess.com/

A new digiscrap page

OK, this is my very first attempt at a digiscrap page. Even though I did do our family Christmas cards, this page is going in either an album or possibly a frame. I absolutely love it. I found a digiscrap shop that so beyond cool. The stuff is shabby and vintage. Love it!! You can go see it at http://www.shabbymissjenndesigns/. Go check her out!!

Miss Jenn herself has been so sweet and kinda helping me along with some stuff. She qualifies as a rock star!! Thanks Jenn!

New year.....More cards

Well, atleast, I hope I can get some more cards up. I honestly have not sat down and made any cards since October!! I am itching to do so too. So, hopefully this week, I can get to it.

For Christmas, I made my parents and my inlaws frames. My parents had pics of their mom and dad and for my inlaws, I did 2 frames. One with their 3 boys and one with their 3 girls. I will post pics of my inlaws. Shame, shame shame. I did not get a picture of my parents pictures that I did for them. I digiscrapped my inlaws. Love digiscrapping. Very new to the whole thing, but it is way addicting. I also digiscrapped our family Christmas card. That was fun!! Can't wait to do more.

I am currently playing with my camera and some vintage items of ours trying to make my own digiscrap elements. If you are a camera wizard, let me in on some tips!!
